
Volodymyr Borodin
Volodymyr Borodin is an Austrian pianist. He was born in Ukraine and has lived in Vienna since 2008.
After graduating from the Donetsk Music Academy in Ukraine as a concert pianist with a master's degree and postgraduate diploma, he continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian (piano chamber music) and Prof. Charles Spencer (vocal accompaniment), subsequently specializing in vocal and instrumental accompaniment, as well as chamber music.
He has participated in and won prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including the Theodor Storm Piano Prize, the North Frisian Song Prize, and the Thomas Wiese Prize. He also won an Isolde Langowski scholarship at the "Liedkunst" International Masterclass for Lied Interpretation with Charles Spencer and Ulf Bästlein in Husum, Germany. Volodymyr Borodin has already impressed audiences with his unique style of vocal accompaniment in numerous performances as a soloist in Austria, Italy, Ukraine, Germany, and Spain, as well as with great success in piano recitals in Berlin and Prien am Chiemsee. He is also a highly sought-after chamber musician, playing in duos and trios, for example, with cellist Rudolf Leopold and internationally renowned violinist Yury Revich. As a vocal accompanist at numerous recitals, such as the Friedrich Hebbel Liederabend at the Vienna Musikverein and the Schubert Festival in Steyr, Upper Austria—together with baritone Peter Edelmann, and at recitals with the world-renowned bass Kammersänger Artur Korn—he impressed audiences with his unique style of vocal accompaniment. He has also accompanied the celebrated soprano Natalia Ushakova on her concert tours.
His other concert engagements include the annual International Summer Academy in Lilienfeld (Austria), as well as official vocal accompaniment at the International Hilde Zadek Singing Competition in Vienna and collaborations with the Otto Edelmann Society in Vienna.
From 2014 to 2021, Volodymyr Borodin worked as a vocal and song accompanist at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and was also an assistant to Professor Charles Spencer for song interpretation.
Parallel to his work at the University of Vienna, he established himself as a highly sought-after vocal coach and founded his own vocal studio in Vienna, specializing in the vocal technical aspects and challenges faced by young singers on their path to a successful singing career.
